Will
it release? High court stays Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu!! seems like Vettaiyadu Villaiyadu has been jinxed from
the beginning. The film shuffles from one mishap to another. After the suicide attempt by producer Kaja Maideen, the film
was taken over by director Gowtham Menon himself and then Seventh Channel Narayanan stepped in to complete the film. The audio
release was held on February 5. Now, the High Court of Madras has issued an interim order against releasing the film. The
reason? Kaja Maideen who had obtained finance of Rs. 2.60 crores from Mahendra Kumar Jain failed to repay the sum. Even after
repeated reminders, Maideen was silent. Meanwhile, he transferred the film to Narayanan to be released under his banner. The
total outstanding mounted up to Rs. 3.18 crores. In his petition before Honorable Justice Chockalingam, Jain prayed that the
film copies should not be delivered from the Prasad Labs and the release should be stayed till his dues are settled. Hearing
the petition, the Judge ordered interim stay. It is quite surprising that more and more people involved in the background
for film production are approaching the courts for settling their claims. It is high time the industry got an institutional
framework for carrying on business and settling disputes. Trust of word and faith are becoming a thing of the past
Producer Vikram and Director Dharani to join? |
March 09, 2006 |
Kodambakkam wags say that Vikram, once he completes his Bheema, will go into a production venture
with Dharani to direct the film. Vikram and Dharani form a hit team; we need not remind you of Dhool, the Vikram starrer directed
by Dharani. There is another twist to this rumour. It is said that Dharani and Vikram will produce the movie jointly. However,
Vikram denies having any such idea. But then, the denial is expected. He has already enough problem with the tax people and
he would not disclose whatever his investment plans be.
Simbu’s next flick and a two crore deal!
Deivanai Movie Makers, the people who gave
you the Simbu starrer Saravana, are making yet another Simbu flick. Negotiations are almost through though Simbu is demanding
two crores. This is despite the fact that Saravana was a flop. If Saravana was a flop why should the production house sign
up Simbu again? When Saravana was in the making, the producers went through a cash crunch. Simbu’s daddy barged in with
cash to bail the producers out. Dad was sure that his son would spin out a hit. Now the producers expect the same gesture
from dad for this movie. That T Rajender burnt his fingers by buying the distribution rights of Saravana is another story.

Trisha: Glamour first, acting later Almost
all the new face heroines say that they will not do glamorous roles but after they settle down, they do it any way, including
Sada, Gopika and Sneha. However, Trisha is different. Guess what she said when she entered the industry? “I was afraid
that they would give me stereotyped family girl roles. Luckily, I got into glamour. That’s what has fetched me the market
I enjoy today.” Different, eh? That’s Trisha |

Nayan’s No to S J Surya despite Simbu’s appeal |
The performance of S J Surya’s
Kalvanin Kaadhali at the box-office has not been bad despite the bad press that it got. Surya is now gearing up for his next
film Pandigai, to be directed by Mutthu Vadugu. This has already been reported at our site. But one thing that bothers Surya
is the heroine. His favourite, Nayantara, has said no. He approached Simbu to persuade the lady but even Simbu could do nothing.
Now why Simbu? Hey, man, Simbu is Nayan’s best friend. We just do know what is it in Surya that has upset this girl
so badly. Surya is now zooming in on Bhavana of Chittiram Paesudhedi.
